NPL NEWS
The first ever domestic cricketing event in Nepal - Ncell Nepal
Premier League (NPL) has been rescheduled to kick off from May 14 to
June 14, 2014.
Issuing a press statement on Thursday, Cricket Association of Nepal
(CAN) informed that the tournament was rescheduled for May 14 from the
previously declared date of April 10, 2014 due to local weather
conditions.
Similarly, among the four venues, Biratnagar and Rajbiraj have also
been cancelled mainly due to possible rainfall. Likewise, there won’t be
two-day cricket this year as planned before.
“This was cancelled on a mutual understanding with all the six
captains of the participating teams before the national team's departure
to the ACC Premier League in Malaysia,” said CAN.
According to the tie-sheet, Ncell NPL One-Day Tournament (50 overs)
will kick off from May 14 to 24 at Fapla Cricket Ground in Dhangadi,
while Ncell T20 Tournament (20 overs) will start from June 4 to 14 at TU
Ground in Kathmandu. The tournaments will be played in a round robin
format.
CAN is the organiser of the tournament while Zohra Sports Management
(ZSM) in technical supporter and Ncell is the main sponsor of the
tournament.
Altogether six teams owned by different business houses will contest for the prestigious titles in the League.
The participating teams include Tej (owned by Panchakanya Group and
captained by Sharad Veshwakar), Colors X Factors (owned by Teletalk Pvt.
Ltd. and captained by Gyanendra Malla), Vishal Group Warriors (owned by
Vishal Group and captained by Parash Khadka), Kantipur Gurkhas (owned
by Kantipur Publications and captained by Basanta Regmi), Jagdamba
